So, there's no point in me friending people and of them friending me if:
a) they're not going to post
b) they're going to delete accounts
c) they're going to customize me out of posts to the effect that I pretty much don't see any posts
All of these things, by themselves, are fine for people to do. I simply don't like a feature being useless. Friending people generally means I get to keep up on friends' lives just as I am happy for them to keep up on mine.
And no; this is not a call for people to post if they don't want to. More, my concern is with people who never post (or appear to never do so). If you don't want to post, say, ever, let me know and I'll remove you from the friends list, eh? Not maliciously, I assure you! It just seems that quite a few friends' journals have been dead for some time now.
Actually, it would be easier for me to figure out which accounts are still active if all who wish to remain on the friends list just reply here. (There are, of course, many people who will remain on the list regardless of response.)
To all you friends whose lives I can enjoy hearing about (or groan over vicariously) by way of LJ and the like, thank you!

Hello all. The U.S. Supreme Court has upheld the Federal Abortion Ban that criminalizes abortions in the second trimester of pregnancy, regardless of the woman's health. Read about the details here.
Please sign the petition. And if you sign it, let me know so I can thank you.
Now, I don't care who you are or where you stand on the abortion issue. The most ethical thing to do is leave women the freedom to make value and bodily judgements for themselves and not force your opinion on others. If you don't like abortions, fine; don't have one. But the people who do get abortions have reasons for doing so. It's bad enough that the federal government doesn't care whether or not pregnancy will physically bring distress to a woman; the federal decision also invalidates each woman's individual opinion.
Honestly, there have been several cases where women have not known they're pregnant until the second trimester. (Yes, stress by itself can actually stop the menses.) As well, even if a woman decides that she doesn't want to spend many more months being pregnant and does not want to deliver, keep, or give up a baby for adoption, that is her prerogative.
In a socially logical perspective, let me tell you what happens when abortions are illegalized --they happen anyway, and usually in unsafe ways. If a woman doesn't want a fetus growing inside her, will she really have to wind a hose inside of herself in a dingy back room or stab her own uterus in order to freely make decisions about her own body?

Get out from under a blanket and read.
There may be a place or two where I diverge from her thought, but it is altogether an interesting article.
It saves me a lot of breath over having to explain why I hate the thought of prostitution in general and have no respect for people who pay for such sexual services. Strip clubs are not as bad, although I still don't like them --and I really don't like that there are far more strip clubs here with female strippers as compared to ones with male strippers.
Also, I relate with her on the pigeon thing. And here people had me thinking I was strange (or stranger than I really am, at least). ^^

Hey all. Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!
I've been in Portland during the past week. For now, I'll just say that I had a spectacular time with Greer up there.
Also, the cold made me a little sick.
More later. Maybe. I have a lot to catch up on. ^^

Okay, so I was browsing through Gamespot, and there was an advertisement on the side on a new FMA DS game. I thought, haha, as if that will be any good. To my chagrin, however, I accidently scrolled over the pic, which instigated a showing of the trailer for said game. I am agape and amused at how much the people who made the ad must not know about FMA to make such a poor trailer. The voice professes challenges which would be almost ubiquitously applicable to any games based off of anime such as, say, Naruto, but it is incongruous with FMA. I laugh at how the deep male trailer voice's last line, like an add-on, is, "DESTROY YOUR ENEMIES!"
Oy.

A few happy thoughts to offset the negativity:
I missed Greer's call, which is sad, but my heart still warms at the thought of him. Also, his birthday is coming up. December 12th!
My new boots are awesome! I'm wearing them around the apartment out of glee. So warm, snug, and aesthetically kick-ass.
I successfully turned in the story.
I can sleep in tomorrow. (Provided I can ever get to sleep. *glares at neighbor*)
Only two more finals!
I'm getting an A in Literary Analysis. Woo!
I'm pretty sure I also have an A in the SERP Translating class.
The chibis are adorable. I've been trying to take them out once in a while to sit on my lap while I watch some TV. They can each last maybe two minutes being stationary, but those two minutes are awfully heartwarming!
In other news, I need a haircut. It's still manageable, but just barely.

I'm sorry. My mind is all over the place. I love it.
So, this may offend some people's sensibilities, but my mind just tumbled upon a hilarious thought. Having the affinity for procrastination that I do, I figured I might as well share it:
MythBusters on Cartman's "Seaciety"
That is some stupid humor I could definitely appreciate.

Okay. Back to writing.

Trying to finish a story for tomorrow. Leave it to me to attempt writing a story in one night.
Not wise, Jackie. Not wise at all.
Anyway, two more finals to go. Unfortunately, these finals are not the "cherry-on-top" sort of finals. For one class, it counts for a third of the grade, and for the other, it counts for a fourth. Blargh.
I do love the feel of creative gears turning, though. No high like it.

Ugh. This is one long-lasting headache. All of the lost sleep must be catching up with me.
Anyway, I took today completely off to try recuperating. I've gone through as many of "The Word" segments as I could find on Youtube, plus several more. I was sorely disappointed that the clip showing Colbert meeting with the Hungarian ambassador was taken down --Comedy Central being stiff and all. Posh. I voted for Stephen, too, thank ye much.
Yeah; I wish I had cable.
Anyway, what to ramble on? Still have this headache. I thought I could completely relax this weekend (finally!) but then I remembered I still have to read Gosse, translate a Japanese passage, and something else... ack. My memory is showing an unwillingness to cooperate. Well, I do, of course, have to study for two finals, make sure a teacher sent a recommendation, write a story, and... hmm... maybe check to make sure I don't have three finals next week instead of two.
Played a bit more of Tales of Phantasia today. Going back to Alvanista to get permission to enter Ymir Forest. Not that any of this is particularly interesting to... well... probably anyone but me, but at this moment the feel of the keys under my fingertips brings pleasure which induces me to write about anything.
I know I need more sleep, but I never find myself sleeping early. Usually, it's because I can't, but at other times, I feel so contented being able to sit around, browsing the Net at my leisure, that I stay up during these precious hours of free time rather than catching up more on my sleep.
I wish Greer were here to snuggle with. The bed would certainly become more appealing then.
Also, I'm often skeptical of cornbread; it's usually bland and dry. I do, however, enjoy Boston Market cornbread.
On that random note, I bid thee good night/morning.

I should go to sleep, but I want to feel victorious. I want to wallow in the satisfaction of having all of my projects and papers done.
Unfortunately, I have class bright and somewhat early tomorrow. That's usually not a bad thing, but I would really like to sleep in and not go to class.
Alas, has my conscience ever let me skip class?
*tameiki*
I emailed Nintendo about SD DS ports, and I emailed Square-Enix about SD DS ports. Square-Enix told me to write Nintendo, and Nintendo told me to write Square-Enix.
>.<
Damnit. I knew this would happen. Freaking huge corporations...! *grumble*
Also, I am sick^1000th of my neighbor's smoke. It smells bad, people! *choking*

Hey there.
I know I get all caught up in the frustration and stress of school and life to the point that, sometimes, it seems I don't appreciate the good things that happen when I actually do have free time.
So here's a shout to all the people I hang out with. I enjoy bar hopping with you, attending your house socials, and your company in general!

So, I hear rumor of a Dawn of Mana (PS2) and Heroes of Mana (DS) on the horizon. I am excited.
Of course, I would be even more excited if they would just port Seiken Densetsu 2, Seiken Densetsu 3, and Illusion of Gaia over to the DS....

Loves to people -family, friends, and especially Greer-kun. ^_^
(I really don't think I'm impoverished in the family section. But hell; who can argue with a state-of-the-art online quiz?)
Definitely agree with the low finance bar, though.
Also... I'm not sure how I feel about my body having higher stats than my spirit and mind. I mean, I know my mind is brilliant, but if my mind is brilliant, then according to this quiz, my body is --*ego crash*.
Nope. Doesn't compute.

I cannot wait until the end of the semester.
I have, however, recently seen the "Go God, Go!" episodes of SP. They make me happy. Especially the otters. "I will eat his entrails on my tummy!"
Also, Garrison's conclusion on what evolution makes us. Heehee.
